The Human Overall
Management
Education Society (HOMES-Nepal) is a non-profit and a non-government
organization. It is registered under the Organization Act 2034 B.S. at
the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is also
affiliated with the Social Welfare Council.
In the 21st Century, education is deemed to be a fundamental tool and a
right to millions of people around the world. Unfortunately, this is
not the case in Nepal, the literacy rate of the Nepali population is
below 54%. This is due to the fact that many young people do not have
access to the education that they deserve, while others, for social and
cultural reasons, such as those of lower castes, are more affected.
Our encounter with this situation motivated our team members to
manifest a project which aims to provide a formal and vocational
education for all classes and castes, and promote equality. In April
2008 HOMES-Nepal was formed.
From April 2008,we have managed 50 students. 30 of these students are
from remote areas of Gorkha, and 20 from Kathmandu Valley. Our projects
supports each students education which includes: tuition fees, school
uniforms, examination fees and stationary. All the students live at
home with their families and attend a school most convenient to them.
We are proud to report that in our first year into the project that all
the children have successfully completed their academic studies, the
majority of them being promoted to higher level classes. All students
have expressed their enthusiasm to continue their education. We shall
remain committed in supporting these students. At the beginning of 2009
academic year, we have managed a further 5 students.
